my graphic design fail + your kid going to college =

Ever have a parenting day that feels like you're trying to polish a grass-covered turd?

Yeah. Me too.

And recently, I had one of those days not just as a mom...but in my business.

Back in May, you voted YES to a special Zoom session for parents, so my fave parenting coach Diana Davidson and I got to work (it’s happening this Wednesday at 6:15pm PT, deets below).

She brought the wisdom. I brought the...design?

What started as a sweet “empty nest” graphic somehow turned into a steaming pile covered in dried hay under our faces. #nailedit

But honestly — isn’t that kinda just how parenting (or sending your kid to college) sometimes feels?

Even if you've gone through a particular phase before with one child...you know it won't be exactly the same with the other one.

So just like we did the day we first dropped them at kindergarten—we prepped, we prayed, we pivoted (if necessary).

We slap some 💩 up and try to keep our 💩 together...just to get the hang of the "new" season before it’s already shifting again. (Oh, and while attempting to maintain some semblance of ourselves in the process, too.)

🌱 Let’s Grow — Supporting Parents Through the College Launch

Lately I’ve been exploring new ways to help families navigate the emotional side of college, not just the logistical one. That’s why I’ve teamed up with parenting coach Diana Davidson for this special session:

They’re In College… NOW WHAT?!
Wednesday, June 25 at 6:15 PM PT / 8:15 PM CT
A free Bubble-Wrapped Parent Care Session with parenting coach Diana Davidson

This isn't a checklist. It's a soul-soothing, script-gifting, deep-breath kind of hour for parents sending a student to college this fall.

We’ll cover:

  • Emotional milestones your student might hit — and how to support them without spiraling or smothering
  • “Side guide” shifts for navigating distance and radio/text message silence
  • Tools from Diana’s 1:1 coaching Parent Care Package
  • Q+A time to ask what’s on your heart

You’ve worked way too hard to feel like 💩 through this phase of life.

✨ You’ve got this. And we’ve got you. ✨

Shoes I bought my dad

I have three little spots on my head that I like to "worry." Doesn't worry sound so endearing? Like a sweet, handwringing, tea-making little old lady? So much nicer than pick. Pick is a lowly street urchin eyeing your pockets. But let's not get it Oliver Twist-ed. I pick my scalp. It started in 2020, during the pandemic. When it did, I immediately thought of my dad — and that hideous brown Nissan Maxima station wagon from my childhood, him in the front seat, working the same spot on top of...

Hey college preppers and parents!Coming at you on a Sunday, which have — for the longest time — been my Mondays. But now that my kiddos are getting older, I may need to switch it up a bit because we all want a little more weekend time together. And that's kinda the parenting adventure, amiright? You feel like you maybe sort of the hang of a rhythm, and then...BAM. New variable...and no matter how old your student is, late April is the middle of it all.AP exams next month, end of the school year...

“Meh hih a poh-uh car,” Lindsey forced out around a mouthful of Togo’s California Club while grabbing her keys and our giant shared Diet Coke. “A wha?” I asked through my last bite of BLT. “Make him a pop-up card,” after an effortful gulp. “Like, straight up make that bad boy out of construction paper. Classic, quirky, cute.” “Linz…are you serious?” I’d just started dating this new guy on January 11, and I was pretty smitten already. Valentine’s Day was right around the corner, and it felt...
