Hey 11th graders (and the parents who love them), You know I love a good theme—and so does my college prep co-pilot, Lyn Fairchild Hawks at Success Story. So in honor of Star Wars Day, we’re beaming a little galactic essay prep into your inbox (on this May-gray SoCal day, no less). Now, if you missed our Bookend Your Summer webinar last Sunday, let me ask: As spring semester winds down, are ya feelin’ like college applications are creeping in like the Emperor’s ominous star fleet? If your stomach drop like the Millennium Falcon in hyperdrive every time you think about essays, deadlines, and to-dos, don’t worry. We’ve got your back—in a Jedi kinda way.

P.S. My husband (& mega Star Wars nerd) annually points out that May the 4th shouldn’t be Star Wars Day. He thinks it should be May 25 since that is the day the first movie was actually released in 1977.
And if you are also a stickler for the details when it comes to your college applications—or just need more than bookend-style help, one of the four remaining spots in my #WinningCollege program is for you.
P.P.S. Whether it’s for this Bookend Service, #WinningCollege, or 1:1 work, I anticipate filling my roster by July 1 or sooner, so please don’t wait to have a chat with me now so we can pop you on the calendar!
For college-bound students (& their parents) looking to POP with possibility, purpose, & personality-filled applications that get put into the "YES!" pile—without POPPING under pressure on the way there! 💕
I have three little spots on my head that I like to "worry." Doesn't worry sound so endearing? Like a sweet, handwringing, tea-making little old lady? So much nicer than pick. Pick is a lowly street urchin eyeing your pockets. But let's not get it Oliver Twist-ed. I pick my scalp. It started in 2020, during the pandemic. When it did, I immediately thought of my dad — and that hideous brown Nissan Maxima station wagon from my childhood, him in the front seat, working the same spot on top of...
Hey college preppers and parents!Coming at you on a Sunday, which have — for the longest time — been my Mondays. But now that my kiddos are getting older, I may need to switch it up a bit because we all want a little more weekend time together. And that's kinda the parenting adventure, amiright? You feel like you maybe sort of the hang of a rhythm, and then...BAM. New variable...and no matter how old your student is, late April is the middle of it all.AP exams next month, end of the school year...
“Meh hih a poh-uh car,” Lindsey forced out around a mouthful of Togo’s California Club while grabbing her keys and our giant shared Diet Coke. “A wha?” I asked through my last bite of BLT. “Make him a pop-up card,” after an effortful gulp. “Like, straight up make that bad boy out of construction paper. Classic, quirky, cute.” “Linz…are you serious?” I’d just started dating this new guy on January 11, and I was pretty smitten already. Valentine’s Day was right around the corner, and it felt...
